Search Engine Marketing - Search Engine Optimization is Important

by Terry Stanfield

Search engine marketing is the process of using search engine optimization to make sure that your webpage consistently is at the top of the heap when customers and client do an Internet search for terms that are related to your product or service. When search engines send out spiders or bots to collect information about different websites that is then used to decide which web pages show up first in search listings these spiders and bots are looking for search engine optimized content, or SEO content. SEO content drives search engine marketing by repeating certain keywords or key phrases a certain number of times.

When the search engine spiders and bots pick up those keywords or key phrases then they put that webpage higher in the search listings then pages that don’t have SEO content. SEO has become very important to businesses in the last decade because no matter how much you spend on advertising when you’re doing business on the Web your webpage needs to be at the top of the search listings page. Search engine marketing can target the major search tools that people use like Google or Yahoo so that you can be sure your webpage will show up somewhere near the top whenever anyone searches for a keyword or key phrase that is found on your website.

SEO content needs to be original though, just copying and pasting the same paragraph over and over won’t help you with SEP. The spiders and bots are programmed to not list sites that repeat the same word or the same phrase over and over. So if you were planning on taking one paragraph or one page of content and using that for search engine marketing it won’t work. For effective search engine optimization you need to have original SEO content.

If you want your website to really be successful good SEM is the key. Lots of companies place online ads and online ads can be effective at reaching particular target markets but when it comes to sheer numbers the highest number of hits that you will get to your site will come from SEO content and using search engine optimization in creative ways to get your webpage listed higher up in the search rankings.

Studies have shown that a majority of people will never click past the first page of search results when they search for a certain keyword or phrase so you have to make sure that your webpage is at the top of the search results page in order to get the most visitors to you site who are looking for the product that you sell. Using search engine optimization can be tricky until you get the hang of writing SEO content and using search engine marketing but once you figure out how it all works or hire a professional to show how it all works you’ll be amazed at the increase in traffic to your website that you will see.

Marketing Services for the Internet

by Gary Terrazas

Internet marketing services need to fulfil an Internet business’s goals in order for all its activities to do well.

However, it is not an easy task to find good Internet marketing service or a good Internet marketing affiliate program. This is because there are just as many bad Internet marketing affiliate programs out there as there are good ones too.

To help you choose the best company to provide you with Internet marketing services, it is best to identify what is a bad and what is a good Internet marketing service programme.

Being able to tell the difference right off will prevent a promising company from being ripped off by those out there who prey on businesses in need of Internet marketing services for their company.

Affiliate marketing is a valuable online marketing programme. As a starting point, any above average Internet marketing service affiliate programme does not ask for any fees for membership or any services not provided. Thus, be wary of any Internet marketing affiliate programmes that either asks you to join as member or requests money directly before starting.

You would find it necessary to take advantage of SEO search engine marketing opportunities. To do this you have to try to optimize your website for the popular search engines relating to your target market. Depending on where you are Google and Yahoo remains top choices. Make sure that any search engine you choose to work with is relevant to your specific needs.

By understanding how the individual search engines operate, you will have a better idea of what search engine techniques will effectively raise your ranking and which techniques are mediocre at best.

In Internet marketing you have an option of using PPC as a marketing medium. You could do such a program with a search engine or just decide to place ads on a website already enjoying high traffic.

Be aware that you don’t unnecessarily place your advert on high traffic websites, but that the traffic is of no relevance to your business. For example, it may not be wise to place an advert for flowers on an industrial metals website.

If you decide to use the services of an Internet marketing company or consultant take care to pick the best. Take time to make adequate research into their pedigree and history. Look at past projects they have done. Ask them for their resume, ask if they have existed under any other name in the past and research that too.

It is a good idea to ascertain an Internet marketing firm’s abilities before employing them. Do this by asking them to describe how they intend to help your business grow. A good company is pleased to provide you with all the information you request, a bad company not.

There are a multitude of Internet marketing companies out there, choose the company that will provide you’re the best assistance in helping your company grow.

Optimize Your Site For Google With Links

by Lucas Heijn

The importance of your site is determined by linking. Search Engines like Google rate how important your site is by how many links there are to your site.

The most important thing about links is to keep it relevant. If the page you link to is relevant to the content on your site this is good. If the site is relevant this is better. Not all links are created equal.

Here are some ways to get quality links to your site:

Reciprocal Links.

They are not of the value they once had in determining the importance of your site. They are still good but you must make sure that it comes from a site that is on the same or similar subject to yours.

Writing Articles

This is one of the best ways of creating links back to your site. This can have a viral effect as webmasters take up your article and post it on their site or send it out in a newsletter. Articles you submit must have a link back to your site. Most article directories allow you to place a link in your bio section. There are hundreds of these article directories that you can post to. Here are some you must make sure to include: EzineArticles.com, ArticleCity.com, and GoArticles.com.

Link Farms

If you come across a link farm go the other way. A link farm is a site of scrolling pages with countless links. These links are bad. They can actually kill your rankings. They are really part of a spammer’s network. Never link to any of these sites as it can downgrade your ranking with Google.

Directories

Links from directories can be very helpful in upgrading your ranking. This is especially so from such directories such as DMOZ and Yahoo. You can also look for other respected directories. Try to get your site listed with DMOZ. It can be very difficult but if you keep submitting it every 4 – 6 months. Search for the best category and keep trying for it.

With Yahoo it is easier to list your site but it will cost you. Yahoo charges $299 per year to list your site. The listing can be very valuable as Google looks at Yahoo directory as an authority.

Another link that is important is anchor text. Anchor text is the text in the hyperlink. An example of anchor text is this: For the very best in web hosting you can’t go past LinksParadise. The words “web hosting” is hyperlinked. This is anchor text. I used “web hosting” as this would be a keyword my site is optimized for. If you did a search with Google for the words “Click Here” you will find that the #1 site for that search term is Adobe. This is because many sites link to Adobe Acrobat Reader, and use the anchor text “Click Here”

An anchor text link that uses the keyword or key phrase is far better. For example if you were targeting the keyword phrase; “low cost web hosting” You would anchor it this way: “to really benefit from our low cost web hosting here are some pointers” The keyword phrase we are targeting is our anchor text.

These are just some of the ways we can use to increase our page rank in the search engines.

How To Make Money Online - Start with the basics

by Mark Thompson

If you are like me you have seen hundreds of adverts and sales pages online that promise to make you rich and present you with a millionaire lifestyle. How tempting does that Villa and yacht look?? Unfortunately it’s not you and me that are going to make money from these programs it’s the owner and maybe a few of his affiliates.

If only internet marketing was as easy as the adverts make out we would all be rich. However this is not the case Internet Marketing is just like any other job you need to learn the basics first before moving onto the big stuff. Even if you get an honest recommendation for a product that has made a lot of money for someone else , it doesn’t mean to say it will make any money for you. There are too many variables involved , for example do you have the necessary experience to use it to the it full potential?

What type of car did you learn to drive in? An easy to drive small car or a hard to handle Ferrari? What did you learn to cycle on a bike with training wheels or a racing bike? I am sure the answer is obvious as is the reason why. If you try to learn on something that is not suitable you lose confidence and never try it again.

What would have happened if you had ridden that race bike first of all? You’d have probably fallen off 10 times in the first hour. If you’d survived that you’d probably have vowed never to ride a bike again. Internet marketing is exactly the same. Make too many mistakes early on and you’ll soon feel like giving up.

So where should you start when it comes to making money online?

Step one should be to learn all about keywords and niches. Find out what type of sites are the most profitable. Once you have done that then you should come up with a plan. Try researching your markets. Should you build a mailing list or should you concentrate on monetizing blogs. It really can be very daunting at first but persevere and the rewards can be excellent.

It is important to try to resist the temptation to buy every tool you see recommended. I’ve had loads of people ask me what they should do with the tools they bought. If you don’t know exactly what you will use a tool for them don’t buy it! There are hundreds of free tools available online make use of these to start with. The more money you save the greater your profit will be.

I am lucky enough to be able to make a full time income by working online. I am also a believer in sharing what I’ve learned. Therefore I have recently decided to give away many of the guide, e-books and videos I’ve created over the past few years. You’ll find details of the site Profitable Website Guides below.

Create An Income From Low Cost Sites

by Mark Thompson

If you still need to hold down a full time job while at the same time trying to build up your online portfolio you should be looking to build income from projects that take little time and maintenance. It’s all very well for someone to write a book telling you to create a site then submit 5 articles a day for a month (This was really the recommendation in a report I read this week!) but it’s not realistic. Yes you could outsource the work but you’d soon have spent $750-$1000 before you’d made a cent. This is now money that you have to recuperate before you are in profit.

I have lost count of the times we’ve had new members sign up who have spent hundreds of dollars on e-books and programs but have put none of it into practice because of lack of time. Or even worse have put it into practice but haven’t had the necessary knowledge to take it any further and make a profit.

I’ve seen people just starting out spend $1500 on a site and expect the money to pour in. Time to wake up and smell the coffee, unless you are very lucky you will need to work on site promotion which takes time.

In one of the forums i visit recently one of the members was telling everyone how he planned to start off by building 30 sites then leaving them for a few weeks and then seeing which ones were making money. He failed to grasp the fact that having bought 30 domains he would need to make over $300 before he broke even. Despite my best efforts he maintained that he had more chance of making money with 30 sites as he did by concentrating on one or 2 sites. He completely failed to take into account that he would need to promote all 30 sites and that would take 30 times more work that on 1 sites.

You should be looking for sites that you can set up quickly and that will take up as little time as possible with maintenance. This leaves you with more time for the all important site promotion. Any profits you make can then be put towards outsourcing other projects.

Before I moved onto my current projects I chose to build a number of Adsense sites. These took up very little time once they were built and I was able to promote them and update them on a regular basis. As soon as I was getting a good Income from them I was able to move on to other projects. I knew that whatever happened I had the income from the Adsense sites to fall back on.

If you are just starting out it makes a lot of sense to use some of the many free resources available to you. Google Alerts will give you daily updates on your niches which you can turn into content for your sites in a few moments. I used Wordpress which is available for free and a freely available datafeed to create a site that has pulled in over $300 so far. The total cost of the build was $8 which was what the domain cost me and I created it in about 15 minutes. You don’t need to spend $100’s to make money.

There are many free resources available. a quick search around the internet and a few forums will throw up a whole host of them.

The example above was just one way that you can build sites cheaply that require very little maintenance. Anything that can save you both time and money should be a priority when you are starting out. If you would like more ideas like these please check out The Income Academy you’ll find details below

Hints for Keyword Success

by Kirt Christensen

For those people experienced in the Adwords scene, the keywords are the most important thing. Getting profitable keywords and drawing in clients is the make or break factor for them.

If your adwords campaign is not successful, you will be wasting hundreds of dollars on ads that failed to bring in anything but idle clickers, people just looking around at everything.

What isn’t known by this group of people is that luck doesn’t come into play and careful research doesn’t guarantee success also.

Of course taking a look at the database of a search engine will reveal the keywords that attracted the most business in a given time period; but the keywords are going to produce tons of results pages because they are popular. Internet searchers aren’t going to look past 5 or 10 pages. So anything beyond that point is not going to be seen.

Plainly an advertisement should set its sites on being on those first pages to be sure of success, but how is that connected to the keywords? To be sure that an ad is within the top sponsored links (those 1st 5-10 pages) an advertiser will have to have one of the top bids for that keyword.

It follows that they will have to pay more each time their ad is clicked than other advertisers are paying on the other 99 or so pages if they desire to have their ad show up on the first page.

Well who cares if you have to pay a little more per click? You should because every time that that ad is clicked on you have to pay that amount even if you aren’t getting any sales off of it and that could mean a very large deficit in the ad budget. That’s why each ad has to function at peak performance so that you can justify the expense.

A successful ad is totally dependant on the success of it’s keywords.

An optimal keyword should be narrow enough so that it can narrow the field down (like “little league football” rather than “football”) but you also want it to be broad enough that someone would actually search for it.

Anyone having difficulty selecting keywords for their advertisements can use any one of the vast array of tools available through Google’s AdWords site, www.adwords.google.com.

Internet marketing strategies for small businesses…

by Kenneth Doyle

Internet Marketing is a now a must do marketing activity for any small business wanting to prosper in the so called Information age. However, with this being said, marketing your small business on the Internet does not need to be expensive, nor does it need to be complicated.

And, just like in the real world, there are many small business marketing options available to you.

Small business Internet marketing can be a very cost-effective way of promoting your bricks and mortar business locally and/ or to the world. All that one does is choose from the wide variety of marketing options available, and then consistently apply them to get measurable results.

So, these Internet marketing strategies are? How are they applied?

For the average small business there are only THREE approaches to Internet marketing that one needs to consider, being…

1. PPC search marketing (Pay per click marketing, and its different versions), and… 2. Hyperlink marketing (commercial links used within content on a specific topic), and… 3. Natural search marketing (all involving original content).

So, what are the PROS and CONS of these different approaches?

1. PAY PER CLICK SEARCH MARKETING:

Paid search marketing is paid advertising. You pay for your ad to be placed before people searching on specific keyterms. The effectiveness of your PPC campaign is directly related to the keyterms you chose to use, as well as the sales path you set up on your landing page (where people land when they click on your PPC link).

The PROS: You get your ad before prospects quickly.

The CONS: A) This is a specialist skill. If you don’t know what you’re doing you can lose a lot of money, fast! B) Hiring a PPC specialist can be expensive. C) You have to continue to run your PPC ads. D) Competition for commercial keyterms is fierce. This continually drives their cost up, and you only get to play as long as you continue to pay.

2. CONTEXT within CONTEXT LINK MARKETING:

This model utilizes other people’s existing web content (for your advertising benefit). The text links are placed within their keyword focused web pages. So, let’s say you’re selling financial services. Your keyword-related hyperlinks are run within the content about (guess what) financial services. People click on that hyperlink and end up at your offering about financial services.

The PROS: Information is the currency of the Internet. When you use these embedded hyperlinked, and within context ads correctly they can be a very effective advertising medium for small business. The clickthroughs may be lower than the PPC model, but the quality of visitor is usually much higher.

The CONS: A) Competition for commercial keyterms is fierce. This continually drives your costs up. And, you only get to play as long as you continue to pay. B) You have limited control over where these hyperlinks are placed, because it’s the In-Context advertising system that places these links in the participating publisher’s content for you. C) To get best results here one needs to utilize specific landing pages for the clickthroughs from your different ads. This is called the search path, and again it’s a specialist skill that’s needed to set up good search path landing pages.

3. MIMICKING NATURAL SEARCH MARKETING:

Think about this. How do YOU use the web? I’ll guarantee you that if you’re looking for a solution to a problem that you do what millions of other people do everyday. You go to your favorite search engine (usually Google) and type in your problem (a.k.a. keyphrase). Then, your search engine presents you will likely answers. When a small business interfaces with the fundamental reality of the way people use the Internet THEY win.

Note: Search marketing is different from SEO. SEO (search engine optimization) relates to the optimization of existing web sites to make them search engine friendly to the search engines.

The PROS: Natural search marketing is about being found FIRST when people search the net for a solution to a problem. This type of web marketing actually benefits the searcher, and it is never viewed by them as an advertisement. Search marketing allows savvy local businesses to compete on a global level, because there is no shortage of niches one can dominate using search marketing strategies and methods.

The CONS: A) Search marketing strategies take longer to mature than the other methods discussed, however the cost-effectiveness and long-term results are better. C) The commitment must be to the continual addition of fresh content to the keyword-focused, theme-related content systems developed. However, for any business owner who knows their business and loves it this is never an onerous task.

To summarize… Marketing on the Internet for small businesses no longer needs to be seen as a mysterious event. There is still be a great divide between those businesses who are using the web properly, and those who don’t. However, armed with this information, you now have a choice.

Enhancing Your Internet Sales Copy

by Jason Pearson

Influencing people to buy what you sell using a sales letter or email is quite simple when you keep a few important rules in mind. Set your company up as a reliable and innovative provider or quality products. Let the consumer know how quickly they should buy your products. Include the benefits to the customer throughout the sales pitch.

Focus on starting your letter, article or email with bold titles and subheadings. Add clear and simple informative statements to generate interest in what you are selling. Show the readers why they, in particular, need this solution to make their lives better. At this point, let them know how and when to buy it.

Unless you seize the moment to directly tell prospects to act immediately they will quickly forget about their initial interest in your product. This is a common mistake in sales copy. It is, in effect, an incomplete strategy.

Avoid simply listing features of your products or services. While this is important to communicate, there are other ways to go about getting this information across. You can instead design more clever copy by listing a feature and then how it directly improves the buyer’s life.

Make sure to include answers to the questions you anticipate prospects asking. You want to remove any doubt from their minds about whether or not they need this product. If you formulate truthful and clear answers to these questions, you have eliminated one more obstacle in the way of a purchase.

Don’t continue to reuse the same language over and over unless you’re sure it’s effective. Look at you server statistics or marketing studies to examine which ads have been the most effective. Replace unproductive slogans and copy with more innovative wording.

More crucial than all the tips above is your faith in what you do. Clarify for yourself exactly now you provide solutions for people to ease their burdens or make them happier. Once you can communicate this to others, your sales efforts will be almost unnecessary. Use the fact that people can always recognize both exaggerations and simple truths within advertising to your benefit.

Use these ideas to make all your sales efforts more productive. These marketing tips are relevant to almost everyone in any business. In the growing competition fostered by the internet, make sure you are incorporating these tactics into your sales copy.
